From Yerevan to lake Sevan!

Recommended arrival to Erevan is before 16:00. You will be met with a sign and transferred to your hotel 4*. Short time for rest before panoramic evening tour of the city by foot. You will learn about the history of the country and this ancient city - one of the oldest in the world. We will stroll along the main streets and listen to the history of the city and its creators. We will see the illuminated Cascade - the main architectural highlight of Yerevan - and decide whether to walk uphill 840 steps to the top or just have a glass of coffee downstairs. If the weather is good, you may see the mountain of Ararat. The tour will end at the door of the popular restaurant where we booked a table for you. Enjoy local cuisine! Just few steps from the hotel.

On our way to Garni we will stop by the stone Arch of Charents, named after popular poet, to enjoy a fantastic landscape of the place - a view to biblical mountain Ararat. Later in Garni we will see the only preserved pagan temple of the country, which is often called Armenian Acropolis. Next whimsical place in the Gorge of Garni is a unique rock formation consisting of giant basalt pillars overhanging the path at a height of 50 metres. They are called the Symphony of Stones. And finally we come to the ancient monastery Gegard (XII-XIII c.), half-built into the massive rock. Explore cave cells and chapels and learn amazing history of the monastery and its Christian relics.

We are leaving Erevan to visit ancient monastery of Khor Virap located in the foot of Ararat and to see the pearl of Armenian medieval architecture the monastery Noravank on the background of red sheer cliffs in the gorge of Arpa river. Then we will visit the country's oldest winery "Areni", tour the cellars and taste wine. Lunch at own cost will be served in the winery. We continue to drive deeper in the mountains and will have overnight in a beautiful eco-hotel with fantastic views.

Visit cave village of Khndzoresk, literally hanging on the sheer cliffs of the deep gorge. We will walk along the hanging bridge over the gorge to see the ancient town where people lived 100 years ago. Then we continue to Tatev to experience amazing flight along the world's longest and highest cable road named "Wings of Tatev". The cable road brings us to Tatev monastery, built in the highlands. After the tour we sit for quick lunch in the local restaurant. Below the Tatev monastery deep in the 500-metres gorge there is another miracle of nature - the Devil's Bridge - the formation created of lava stone by water and wind. Another signature place here is Karaunge, often called Armenian Stonehenge. Giant manmade rocks sticking out of the ground are 7500 years old. Today we cross the Selim passage high in the mountains by very picturesque serpentine road with a stop at caravanserai. Finally we are at the lake Sevan. Overnight in colorful ethnic hotel "Lavash" with views over the lake.

Lake of Sevan or the "Armenian Sea" is the largest of Caucasian lakes, 80 metres deep, surrounded by magnificent mountains. After the tour of Sevanavank monastery we will taste local specialties during lunch on the shore enjoying lake views. Then we visit small and cozy resort town of Dilijan, often called "Armenian Switzerland". Expolre colorful Agartsym monastery (XIII c.) in the national park of Dilijan. Return to Erevan about 18:00. Free time for your last evening in Armenia. We recommend to visit an authentic restaurant or jazz club. Overnight in hotel Conyak.

Free morning depending on the time of your departure flight. We recommend to visit the Old Bazar to buy dried fruit, cheese and wine as souvenirs. You may find interesting Vernisage Market where one can buy handmade jewelry and souvenires. If you have more time visit the cognac plant "NOI" (formerly "Ararat") to taste Armenian cognacs.
