Departure to Pechory at 10AM (53 km). Guided visit to Pskov Cave male monastery of Assumption. Founded in XIV century, the monastery was an important centre of spiritual life and, at the same time, a powerful fortress. It was besieged many times, but never surrended. Lunch at your own cost at the cafe near the monastery. Drive to the ancient fortress of Izborsk. According to a legend, in 862 here came prince Truvor - one of the three Varangian princes invited to rule in Russia. We will walk along the top of the fortress wall, explore its highest tower and gunpowder magazine. We will visit the cozy St. Nicholas Cathedral and walk downhill to the Slovensky spings by the lake inhabited by swans. Return to Pskov at 5PM. Free time.
